ABOUT GREEN JADEITE

Green Jadeite as a gemstone has plenty of history because it has been a part of people’s lives for many centuries.

It’s mainly considered a symbol of serenity, tranquility, and purity. It’s a stone that’s believed to bring good luck, friendship, peace, and harmony. They also symbolize perfection because of their indestructibility.

TYPE OF JADEITE

Type A Jadeite – Natural form

We consider this as the only accepted form that jadeite should be. Type A natural jadeite means the subject qualifies to be free of any chemical treatment. As part of the polishing process, coating the jadeite with colorless wax is accepted so long as it does not damage the crystalline structure of the subject. After fine polishing, the jadeite item is dipped in heated wax of liquid form, and once cooled down, it is buffed to give a smooth, lustrous look, much like the process of car waxing.

Type B Jadeite – Chemically treated and resin infused

Type B jadeite means that the subject has been soaked in acid, which removes impurities or oxidation stains, producing a “bleaching” effect. This process lightens the color of many materials, including jadeite, and leaves many holes or micro craters inside throughout the subject. Next, it is placed into a vacuum chamber where polymer resins are infused into it, and after the final polish, the treated jadeite looks smooth and lustrous in color. Unfortunately, the appearance of Type B jadeite can change and deteriorate over time. The polymer resin can discolor and oxidize when exposed to heat and sunlight and turn yellowish.

Type C Jadeite – Dyed coloring

Typically, type C jadeite has undergone all type B treatments and dyed coloring added to the polymer resin to produce an enhanced or additional coloring effect. Certain jade collectors look for jadeite items in three colors: green, white, orange, or purple.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MYANMAR JADEITE AND GUATEMALA JADEITE

The main difference between Myanmar jadeite and Guatemala jadeite is their chemical composition and geological origin. Myanmar jadeite, also known as Burmese jadeite, is found in Myanmar (formerly Burma) and is composed of sodium-rich pyroxene minerals. It is considered to be one of the most valuable and sought-after forms of jade in the world due to its high quality and unique shades of green.

On the other hand, Guatemala jadeite is found in Guatemala and is composed of a different mineral called actinolite-tremolite. Generally speaking, Myanmar jadeite tends to be more expensive than Guatemala jadeite due to its higher quality and rarity. Myanmar jadeite is known for its exceptional translucency, vivid green color, and distinctive texture, which makes it highly sought-after by collectors and connoisseurs. It is also considered one of the world's most valuable gemstones, with prices that can reach tens of thousands of dollars per carat for the most exceptional specimens.

In contrast, Guatemala jadeite is generally considered to be of lower quality and is more abundant, which means that its prices are typically lower than those of Myanmar jadeite.
