ABOUT GUAN YIN

Guan Yin, or Avalokiteshvara, is a revered figure in Mahayana Buddhism, symbolising compassion and mercy. Her name means "She Who Hears the Cries of the World," reflecting her role as a protector and saviour.

While Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha, attained Nirvana, Guan Yin vowed to remain in the world to help others achieve liberation. She embodies selfless love, encouraging followers to cultivate empathy and kindness.

This exquisite jade pendant is a beautiful reminder of her wisdom and the transformative power of compassion.

ABOUT GREEN JADEITE

Green jadeite is a gemstone with plenty of history because it has been part of people’s lives for centuries.

It’s mainly considered a symbol of serenity, tranquillity, and purity. It’s a stone believed to bring good luck, friendship, peace, and harmony. They also symbolise perfection because of their indestructibility.

TYPE OF JADEITE

Type A Jadeite – Natural form

We consider this the only accepted form that a jadeite should be. Type A natural jadeite means the subject qualifies free of any chemical treatment. As part of the polishing process, coating the jadeite with colourless wax is accepted so long as it does not damage the crystalline structure of the subject. After fine polishing, the jadeite item is dipped in liquid wax and buffed once cooled down to give a smooth, lustrous look, much like car waxing.

Type B Jadeite – Chemically treated and resin-infused

Type B jadeite means that the subject has been soaked in acid, which removes impurities or oxidation stains and produces a “bleaching” effect. This process lightens the colour of many materials, including jadeite, and leaves many holes or micro craters throughout the subject. Next, it is placed into a vacuum chamber where polymer resins are infused into it, and after the final polish, the treated jadeite looks smooth and lustrous in colour. Unfortunately, the appearance of Type B jadeite can change and deteriorate over time. When exposed to heat and sunlight, the polymer resin can discolour and oxidise and turn yellowish.

Type C Jadeite – Dyed coloring

Typically, type C jadeite has undergone all type B treatments and, with dyed colouring added to the polymer resin to produce an enhanced or additional colouring effect. Certain jade collectors look for jadeite items in three colours: green, white, orange or purple.
